Koh Phi Phi, you look like a postcard

Today we hired a long tail boat to see the best parts of the island. We got up before sunrise to witness it on the ocean. Honestly tho, this morning when the alarm went off at 05:00 I felt like a crazy person. We went out yesterday night and this morning everyone regretted that. The sunrise was worth it tho, it was breathtaking and now I’m sitting on a private beach writing my post. Sitting near the water always helps me put my mind at ease (as a 23 year old student I can shamelessly say, it never is) Like I’ve said before this was a really early morning so since my mind is at ease imma try to take a quick nap in de sun. Speaking of the sun… I tanned so much, in four months I’m gonna go home looking like a Oreo cookie.

Mood: The Netherlands should do something about their beaches.

Koh Phi Phi for fresh air

Today we arrived at Koh Phi Phi Island. The perpose of this trip was to breath in some fresh and healthy air, we felt like this was the perfect excuse to go to Koh Phi Phi. The Island has been high on my to go list and now im finaly here. Remember how I said the residences were going to be intersting… well the one in Phuket sure was just that. There hairs in the beds, frogs hopping around, moths everywhere and there was a pile of dust under the bed about to come to life….Anywayy, eventough the residence on Phi Phi is an intersting one aswell, that shouldn’t stop us from enjoying the island.

After arrival we immidiately went to rent a longtailboat to take us to a beach for the sunset. The boatdriver stopped at 50 meters in front of the beach and then casually tells us we had to swim to get there because of the coral… Scared of whatever would be in the water and the coral to cut our skin we jumped in to get to the beach. Ofcourse everyone was careful so no one got scratched by the coral except for Jody :).

Mood: Btw next time I’ll pick the residence.

We had to leave

Hi guys, so as some of you may know the pollution in Bangkok is really bad. It actually got so bad that our University closed the doors until monday. Eventhough the pollution is quite worrying to me, this time it worked in our favor. The girls and I immediatly booked a flight to Phuket and Koh Phi Phi to breath some healthy air. I agreed on making this a budget trip so the residences are going to be…. how should I say it…. interesting.

The plane takes off in a few so I’ll catch ya’ll later.

Mood: Ready.

How not to pack for six months

With moving to bangkok I got to the conclusion that packing a suitcase with clothing for 6 months is simply not possible. We’ve been here for 3 weeks and today we had a pool party at the Sofitel here in Bangkok. Legit, Judith and I were looking at our clothes realizing we’ve already wore everything in just 3 weeks and we already bought new things here aswell. We need to start going for the backpacker- chique fashion style and recycle our items.

Mood: Backpacker chique is the way to go from now on.

Neon Night Market

So far I’m loving it here. Tonight we went to the Neon Night market for dinner with a few people from our residence. Night markets are my jam here in Thailand. I would love to say it’s not because of the food, but that would be a lie. I like filming Judith while she tries weird things 🙂 This was our first time at the Neon night market. It was pretty, but I was still full from my lunch so I didn’t really eat. However the icecream I had was on another level. The Belgium waffle was filled with coconut and cottoncandy icecream. Sold. I’m out.

Mood: Tomorrow 9am lecture. Dope.

Bangkok – Krabi

So there is no school for a week and you are in Bangkok, what do you do? You leave.
On Wednesday we took off to Krabi. We left at 4 in the morning so we were already really tired. When we arrived we booked a boat to Railey beach at 8am the next day. Then, the day after we drove through Krabi for hours and hours and ended up at the Tiger Cave. Meaning, we had to climb the stairs with 1260 steps to get to the temple, while tired and hungry. Eventhough getting to the top of the mountain was worth the struggle. When we had to go down in the dark and I had to take off my sandals to tiptoe my way down because the steps where to steep…. I was seriously re-evaluating my latest life desisions. When we got back from the Tiger Cave you would think we would take a shower and go to bed, but no. We showerd, had dinner and went out untill 4am. Today the plan was to take a boat at 7:30 to Koh Phi Phi. We’ll this is the point where the madness ends. This morning we woke up around 11am, everybody was dead tired and sore from the Tiger Cave. So today… we orderd roomservice and did nothing, finally.

Mood: Bodyparts I didnt even know were there, now hurt.

First week in Bangkok

Sawadeekap, so we landed in Bangkok about a week ago. And so far I’m loving Bangkok. I love the food (and I love that it’s cheap). The city is always alive which reminds me of home. There was not much time to explore the city at first because we had to go to the University 2 days after we arrived. Our appartement is kinda cute we have a lot of space and we both have our own bathrooms. We where expecting to be free of class for this week, but to our surprise we had class immediately. I’m majorly jetlagged so you can already guess how my first 9am lecture went this morning. I only have class twice a week, so I’m not complaining… Im just saying… 9am lectures shouldn’t be legal.

Mood: Anno 2019 there should be some cure for jetlags by now.

Welcome to Bangkok

Well it’s about 42 hours later and we finally have arrived in Bangkok. If you can’t tell by the pictures, I’m dead. I’m so tired. We arrived around 1pm. Every other person would rush to bed immidiatly, but Judith and I are trying to fight the Jetlag. Our fridge in the appartement was empty so we went grocery shopping. We went to this shop called Big C and its huge. Everyone knows you should not enter a grocery store when not in your right mind. We where awake for around 36 hours and we entered the grocery store buying every damn thing we dont need.

Mood: I dont have a mood I need to sleep right this second.

Amsterdam – Bangkok

Do you know the feeling when you make a decision that seems good in every way in the moment and when you get close to the fire you are seriously wondering what the hell you got yourself into? Well, that’s how i feel right now. This week was so hard. I’m really bad with goodbye’s. And that’s basically al i’ve been doing for the last 3 weeks, saying goodbye to everyone. You know, leaving for 6 month really puts everything into perspective when it comes to your loved ones, they make it very hard for you to leave.

For the past 2 days i’ve been feeling really nauseous, causing everything to go really slow. There were things that I needed to buy and yes.. my suitcase was still chilling in the living room completely empty…
Luckily my aunt and my little nieces came to pack my suitcase for me. Now, that is what we call love. They were the best packing team, if it wasn’t for them my suitcase would still be empty today.

Anyway, today Judith and I are on our way to Bangkok and I have mixed feelings. I’m sad for leaving everyone, but I’m excited because Bangkok is gonna be bomb (in Jesus’ name, Amen.) We have a short stopover in Qatar in a few hours. I really hope I’ll fall asleep as soon as I close my eyes because I’m living on 2 hours of sleep. Last night I stayed up and cleaned out my room. I threw all my old stuff away because there’s nothing better than coming home to a fresh room.

Mood: So I’m very sleepy but since there is wifi on board….

2019

So I know Ive been a little silent troughout 2018. A lot has changed and this year and I was preparing myself for my next adventure. Soon Judith and I will leave Amsterdam to study in Bangkok for one semester. Over the past 6 months I worked 7 days a week to finish my intership and safe up some money for bangkok. Working this much distracted me from everything that was going on around me, I literally had no time to spare to pay attention to nothing but Manchester United games and the ones closest to me. So I know this is gonna sound weird considering the fact that I’ve been working basically everyday, but the last few months have been quite peaceful. For now I need to arrange everything for Bangkok, starting with the most exciting thing, getting the vaccines.

Mood: The stress is slowly but surely kicking in.
