London at 23

I can’t complain celebrating my birthday this way tastes very sweet. Today we went sightseeing as we planned, right after breakfast of course. We had breakfast at a little restaurant that Ayrton recommended, its a furniture store and a restaurant, very cute.

Ever since I was a little girl I had a thing for The Big Ben, so I was very exited to see it today. Little did I know my friend Ben was under construction… The disappointment was so freaking real. I needed a small moment to proces, but then I realized this means I’ll have to come back to London when it’s done, O’well.
Anyway we also went to Brixton as we planned. There was this huge market, and a shopping mall where people sell their own designs and products, I bought a body butter and a hair mask that I definitely don’t need.

Mood: Hungry… Im very hungry, ready for dinner right about now.

23 came fast

23The most important day of the year has arrived! I turned 23 today. This year I’m not having a birthday party, instead Desta and I escaped from our duties and flew to London this morning. (Yes, I skipped school on my birthday…again.)
Today we went shopping (shocker) and we had juicy chicken for dinner at Nando’s. I’m not sure if we’ll go out tonight, but tomorrow we want to do some tourist stuff and visit Brixton. (Okay, I want to do some tourist stuff… Desta is not really having that she is just being nice). For now, I need a quick nap if we’re going out later, because I’m still running on 3 hours of sleep…

Mood: 23 came so fast, in a few years I can’t blame my age for my stupidity anymore.

Britney Her Bucket List

IMG_1896IMG_1934IMG_1903IMG_2623IMG_1923Hi guys, Curacao has been treating us so well. Today Rachel, Britney and I went out to do some gift shopping. Britney, my grandmother and my aunts are going back to Suriname tomorrow. So we tried to fit as much as possible in today. We failed tho…We only went shopping, had a bite and went to the beach.

Mood: It just hit me that in a few days I’ll be back in cold and rainy Amsterdam…

Curacao under water

IMG_1810IMG_1809IMG_1807So I didn’t get the chance to snorkel while in Curacao, but thats okay. Today we went to the Curacao Sea Aquarium. There where shows with Dolphins, and a submarine in the the water with sharks and of course lots of different fish swimming around it. It wasn’t that big but, I always find things like this relaxing.
In the evening I drove us to the mall at the other end of the city. Yes, I drove in Curacao. Ayrton was supposed to be our driver here, but he (surprisingly) didn’t feel like shopping with his sister, aunts and cousins. While I was patiently waiting for someone else to pick up the car keys, everyone was looking at me… Im not gonna lie tho, my heart was pounding for a little bit. I never drove outside of the Netherlands, and this car was way bigger than the one we got at home. Traffic here is very similar to the traffic in Suriname. I don’t really know how to describe it, they just don’t give a sh*t…

The Queen Julianabridge in Curacao is a very high and pretty slim bridge in Willemstad. And the other night my brother, my cousins I where in the city when Ayrton, who is not a fan of heights, pointed out that he wouldn’t want to cross that bridge, because it was so slim, high and long and it didn’t seem like the guardrails where secure and high enough. He went on and on, about how scary this bridge was. So of course, after Ayrton his lecture about this dangerous and unstable bridge we had to cross it on our way to the mall, while I was driving….

Mood: I’m a mad good driver tho. I got everyone home without a scratch

Gorgeous Curacao

IMG_1722IMG_1725IMG_1675IMG_1767IMG_1659Today we drove to the westpoint of Curacao. We saw the caves and rocks at Boka Tabla. It was a long drive and we had to walk a long way with the burning sun, but it was definitely worth it. The views where breath taking.
We actually went inside one of the caves with the water coming right at us and we hunted iguanas to get the perfect picture, (apart from Rachel tho… She actually wanted to catch one of them), i didn’t really asked her why tho maybe to cuddle?
Anyway we also climbed to the top of the rockes and of course I almost tripped and ended up scratching my leg. The funny part of it is tho, that everyone yelled at me to watch the step after I scratched my leg…

Ohw, as for the food tho. There was this place right, and everyone was starving. So Ayrton pulls up at this restaurant and this little voice in my head told me ‘nah, Jody this is not gon’ be good’. So as we get out of the car Ayrton suggested to just have a drink here and go for food somewhere else. As we sit down I said that we should leave the food an stick to the plan. But for some reason nobody heard my warning and we ordered food anyway. Well guess how that turned out… Rachel found a hair in her food, they gave us rice instead of fries because they where out of patatos or something like that (they didn’t tell us this when we ordered). Then the waiter (who was really nice btw) comes in to bring us the last fries they had, but it was just chunks of fried patatos. Note, when I say ‘fried’ I don’t mean they where done. And then there was the fish… It was well flavored but it wasn’t done, it was supposed to be fried fish filet, not dipped in hot oil for a second fish filet…
I do have to say tho, the staff was really nice and the punch they served us was good and refreshing. My uncle his food tasted really good as well. But my family learned their lesson, next time when I tell them not to eat at a restaurant, we don’t eat at that restaurant!

Mood: Thank God for my mom her cooking skills. She made us kidney beans with chicken and rice when we got home.

Kitchen duty

IMG_1625Yesterday, we didn’t do much. The house is just so distracting and the fact that my family from Suriname is here as well makes it easy to just stay in, have a little swim, eat… and then repeat the above. So yesterday my uncle and I cooked dinner for everyone. My grandma brought greens from Suriname so we went on and made my favorite veggie. Even though I say so myself it was so good!.

Mood: Definitely having this again for breakfast tomorrow.

Amsterdam – Curacao

IMG_1572FullSizeRender-2IMG_1584Yesterday we finally arrived in Curacao. Ayrton and I where perfectly prepared for this ten hour flight. We stayed up all night watching Netflix and of cours as always I didn’t pack a single thing until last night. My mom was so mad, she hates it when I do this. Because I had no sleep I was so tired, I slept thru the entire flight. They woke me a couple of times to eat, but I officially gave up on airplane food.

Mood: I just realized… This is my fourth holiday this year. I feel very blessed.

Barcelona

IMG_5043.jpgIMG_5028.jpg

Today we spend our day in Barcelona. We went to the city first, the stores there are similar to the stores in Amsterdam so we just walked around and went to the market. After that we went to FC Barcelona. Unfortunately todays schedule didn’t gave us more than 30 minutes at the stadion. I would love to see more of it, but for now getting everyone at home souvenirs from the fan store will do. On our way back to Lloret we stopped at La Roca Village, an outdoor outlet shopping mall. Because we had such a busy day we ended up having Mc Donalds for dinner.

Barcelona was fun and all, but let me tell you about last night.
The girls and I went out again because Ronnie Flex followed us to Spain and we couldn’t miss out on that. We where just about to head out the club when all hell broke lose. God knows why, but all of a sudden a fight broke out, and then a few seconds later another fight broke out, and then I saw girls fighting on my left. It was total chaos. On our way out I looked back when I saw a man trowing a barstool at another man, and there was this man fighting a freaking security gard. Seriously, I can’t make this stuff up.
On my way to my hotel there where this two ladies fighting about this guy who just stood there watching the show. All he needed was some popcorn, it was ridicules. Once I got in my room my mom and my aunt where awake because they heard the noise. As I was about to tell them about everything that happend, we heard the police…. Yes, the police had to engage to calm the situation, it was that serious.

Mood: I don’t know man. It was Love and Hip Hop in real life, I kid you not.

Andorra

IMG_4987.jpgIMG_4986.jpg
When I left Amsterdam my plan was to relax and study on the beach (yeah I have  3 exams the day after I get back home). Anyway, partying was not on my schedule, yet, I found myself going to the club last night. Even though the bus to Andorra left at 4:30 this morning we still went out. We left the club at 4, rushed to our hotels hopped in the shower and went straight to the bus.
Andorra was beautiful tho, everything here is on or between mountains. I think I almost tripped about 4 times at least.
First we stopped at a gigantic supermarket where you could bye anything you may think of. It was like Ali Express in a store, I’m not kidding. After that we went to the center of the city for about an hour. When I got back in the buss I found out there was a Zara here and I missed it. Did I mention that you don’t pay taxes here in Andorra? Can you imagine me in a Tax free Zara?
I don’t believe it was a coincidence that I missed the Zara, this was God trying to protect my bank account.

Mood: I would love to see more of Andorra one day because we didn’t have much time. But for now I just want some sleep, I’ve been up for way to many hours.

Amsterdam – Lloret Da Mar

IMG_4899.jpgIMG_4885.jpgIMG_4895.jpegRight now its 19:30 and I’m in the bus on my way to Spain. I’m eating Bami with chicken saté while writing this. I only had 4 hours of sleep last night because of course I packed my bags last minute and this morning I had to work. Usually being tired and hungry is a bad combination for me, but because I’ll be sitting in this bus for 21 hours it’s actually convenient. Note that before I got myself dragged into going on this trip, I did not know about the traveling hours. My family knows me well, cause had I known, my ass would’ve stayed at home.

Because 21 hours is mad long, I’ll keep you guys up to date by writing down my actual thoughts throughout my bus drive.

20:30
I was about to study for my exams, but naahh I ain’t feeling that. I’m casually watching Love and Hip Hop atm.

00:30 I will try to get some sleep now. The seat next to me is free so I have them both to myself. This is why I laugh when people call me short because at times like this it’s convenient. I’m actually quite comfortable.

02:01 Well… I think I had a total of 35 minutes of sleep… Great.

7:36
Good morning, I guess getting on this buss tired was a good idea because don’t even remember falling a sleep. I opened my eyes and it was 7:30. (The hell am I gon do for the next 6 hours?)

7:57 I’m counting seconds, the bus driver promised me he would stop for french breakfast at 08:30.

08:07 Is it weird to eat popcorn at 8 in the morning?

08:47 Okay so we finally stopped at Sévérac-le-Château for breakfast. After I had this croissant-ish bun with soft nutella inside (it was bomb btw), I realized we where in between the mountains in the South of France. On one of the mountains there was this castle, the Sévérac-le-Château, that reminded me of the King Artur movies. It was breath taking.
Ohw and I couldn’t help myself… I bought a box of 16 hazelnut brownies.
9:16 I am about done with this busdrive, I kid you not.

11:56 Seriously, my mom just handed out all my Oreo cookies… How nice of her.

12:13 So I’ve been watching Netflix for the past few hours and now my battery is about to die… The fuck am I gon do now!

13:03 I have to say these views are amazing. I’ve seen high mountains, scary long bridges and Bauxite mountains.

14:18 We are outside our hotel at the moment waiting for our room to be done. The busdrive wasn’t that bad, but I have to say that it’s mainly because I had two seats for myself. I’m 100% positive it would’ve been a long ass 17 hours if I couldn’t lie down. Speaking of which, we arrived about 30 minutes ago I believe so it only took us 17 hours instead of 21. I’m not complaining…definitely not complaining.

Mood: Uhm… Yeah, I could use a shower right about now.
