We Made It

Okay so I didn’t spill this tea last semester (I can’t lie, I was waiting for the actual ceremony so I could show you guys some pics) but… Judith and I got our propaedeutics in our first year! It took us blood sweat and tears, literally. It cost me some precious nights of sleep, I ate a lot of chocolate and Oreo cookies and I think I even lost some hairs due to stress.
Honestly though… looking back now I believe that had I not postponed everything till the last minute every damn time, I have to admit, it wouldn’t have been so hard. When I saw that I passed my last exam, I lost my mind. I couldn’t believe it, all my hard work had payed off.

Mood: Collecting these papers like its nothing.

Felicia At Jamrock Festival 2017

jammijamjamrock

I can’t with all these Dj’s around me. Today Felicia played at the Jamrock Festival in Zaandam. Felicia developed her Dj skills so much in a short periode of time. I think she has a few gigs every month now. My friends and I went to support her at the festival today.  I’ve never been to a Jamrock party before and little did I know… All this time I’ve been missing out. Great vibes, nice people and the line up was promising.
But… these outfits tho… apparently just wearing a bra was the dresscode and we missed the memo.

Mood: Celebrating the first of July

The First of July

The first of July is always an important day for me. Back in 1863 on the first of July the slavery in Suriname was officially abolished. We call it Keti Koti which means broken chain. When I was younger I used to proudly represent Suriname in the official Keti Koti Memorial service every year. This year I didn’t. I was so young when I started this and now I’m 22. I felt like it was time to move on and hand over the honor to someone else… At least for now.

Mood:  Happy Keti Koti day ya’ll, much love.

Back from the dead 2.0

nesjo

Nesrine, Judith and I are finally done with our exams. I don’t know why our university thought it was good idea to plan a month with exams and deadlines. My life was on hold for a whole month because of these exams. We ar still waiting for our final grates but I’ll let you know how it went when I got all my results. In the mean time tho, it’s summer break. We promised each other that we wouldn’t waist a day of this summer break, and go out and do fun stuff, but I’m so tired. This month of late nights and early mornings really took i’ts toll on me, so I spend the first day of summer break watching netflix in my bed. Today we lived up to our promise a little bit… We went shopping and ate hamburgers and ice-cream. 🙂

Mood: School is over so I’m good.

My Brother at Amsterdam Open Air

Schermafbeelding 2017-08-15 om 21.49.19Open

Oké so lets forget that I have an exam on Tuesday for a second. Today was the last day of Amsterdam Open Air, one of the biggest festivals here in Amsterdam, and Ayrton appeared on the line up for the third time. The excitement was so real I could barely sleep. This morning I got up early to study because of course Open Air is in the middle of my exams. Mind you, this time I don’t have one examination week, no I got three. So I saw today as the last day of freedom before I start living in the library for a whole month.
When I finally arrived at the festival I was just in time for Ayrton his set. He was on fire, he was so lit that DJ Abstract got on stage to say that Sankoffa was the winner of the night. Gosh, I screamed so loud I lost my voice.

Mood: Proud sister 🙂

I have food poisoning… U_U

So today the party really started! This was my last day here and I got food poisoning… Last night I didn’t feel well and today I spent my day in bed and on the toilet  (I’ll save you the details). I’m sad cause my last day is ruined. Now I just want to go home and lay down in my own bed. On the bright side of things… Today I had time to catch up on Prison Break. We always have to stay positive right?

Mood: These pictures make me feel better cause my week here was amazing.

Road trip

IMG_3179IMG_3319

Today we hired a driver who took us to all the places on the island that we wanted to see. We started off at the silver factory, then came the batik shop, The Tegenungan waterfall and the elephants. Before we went home we stopped at a donut shop called Dough Darlings. Forget everything you know about donuts, because these change the game. They litterly make the donuts in front of you, they are still warm when you them. So fresh, I love it.

After we got home we went out for dinner. We took a cab to get to the restaurant (which was only 6 minutes from our hotel), but the taxi driver took us outside the city, all the way to the airport and back to the restaurant near our hotel! I just don’t understand, this week we had beef with four taxi drivers because they do stupid shit like this. They don’t expect you to say something and when you do they get mad. They obviously know what they’re doing. Well I don’t play that, if I didn’t say anything today, God knows where he would take us before we got to the restaurant. By the time we got there (40 minutes later) the restaurant was closed! We were annoyed and went to Mc Donalds…

Mood: This stupid taxi driver has some nerve.

Jimbaran Beach

The plan for to today was to go to the waterpark here in Bali, but because we were late we decided to cancel and go another day. On our way off the waterpark property a man offered to take us to a beach where we can do water sports, he promised us white sand and blue water. Now, I know that is dangerous to go with a stranger in a country that you don’t know, but it was one of him and nine of us. He wouldn’t stand a chance. So we just went for it. First he took us to a beach side where you can do all kind of water-sports. Halve of them I would only recommend on your last day on earth, but it was nice to see others do it. We took a thing they called ‘water donut’. Its a round rubber boat that gets pulled true the weaves by a speedboat. After the ride we had seen enough of the crazy water sports, so the man took us to an other side of the beach its called Jimbaran Beach. We’ll that was amazing, the water was so blue the weaves where high and they served delicious fish from the grill. Just when we started to trust the man he told us he couldn’t take us all the way to our hotel because he had to go to his doctor appointment…( at 7:30 pm??). Anyway he took us to the mall not to far away from the hotel and we had to take a cab home.

Mood: Do doctors work till 7:30 here in Bali?

Bali 2017

IMG_3004IMG_2995

We’ve finally arrived at Bali Airport and I am so tired. This was the longest I’ve ever traveled. I borrowed my brothers Ipod to survive the flights because mine broke. It took us almost 24 hours to get here, we went to Hong Kong first before we got here. I’m already loving Bali tho, it’s so warm, the people are nice and most importantly I smell food. I’m am so hungry, as always I gave the food in the plane a fair chance but yet again, it failed me. It was better than the food during my flights to Surinam tho, but still, if I hadn’t brought my McChicken and 20 piece Chicken nuggets I would’ve starve to dead.

Mood: Chance the Rapper, you made my flights.

Fast 8

IMG_2975IMG_2950IMG_2978IMG_6824

Ever since my uncle bought my brother and I The Fast And The Furious movie back in 2001, I’ve been obsessed with the Fast movies. I love every single one of them, but couldn’t find the time to go see the last one. So because I leave for Bali tomorrow I pressured Nesrine to go with me today. Fast 8 was everything I expected it to be, but its just not the same without Pall Walker…

Anyway I tried to fix my Ipod, but it was to late. She is officially dead. At first it was responding again so I already felt relieved cause it was working. And then… it crashed. It just started to make weird noises, it sounded like a ticking bom. When it stopped ticking she was gone… R.i.p my friend.

Mood: Mourning my Ipod.
