Packing my bag

Going to Bali has been a dream of mine for a long time and on Monday I’m finally going! As you already know about me I’m a pro when it comes to postponing. This time it was so bad that a doctor came to my house today to give me my vaccin for my trip. And I just found out my Ipod isn’t working properly, it’s an Ipod Classic that I’ve had since high school. So tomorrow I’ll have to figure something out to fix that, because getting to Bali takes us 20 hours and there is no way in hell that I’ll survive that without music. Even though the flight is this long I am exited for it, im just curious to know how it feels to sit in an airplane for so long. First we”ll fly to Hong Hong Airport and from there we’ll go to Bali. If my Ipod isn’t working  by Monday I can already tell you how those hours will feel…

Mood: Exited!!

Kingsday 2017

Before I start telling you about my day, I have something to say about this picture; ‘Owen your face is priceless.’

Usually Kingsday is my favorite day of the year. This year the bad weather killed my vibe. I was so close to staying home and watch Netflix in my pyjama’s, but I decided to go out anyway to see my brothers Dj set at El Haloef Festival. My plan was to head home right after his set but to my surprise my good vibes came back after I had lunch… :).  I ended up staying there all day with my friends. It turned out to be a good Kingsday after all. You know my grandma used to say that if it rains on your birthday it means you’re greedy. This is the third year in a row that it rains on Kingsday… I wonder what this says about our king…

Mood: K.O… I’m not doing shit today.

Back from the dead

So I’ve  kinda been M.I.A these past few weeks because I had exams and a lot of essays for school. And right after my exams I was busy catching up on everything that I couldn’t do before so that was hectic too. Luckily my one day off this week was that one sunny day that we live for here in Amsterdam (sunny days are rare here you know).

My friends and I went to a Japanese blossom park to sit underneath these precious pink blossom trees. You know, like you see on Instagram. Well I’m going to keep it real with you, there was not one pink tree. It was rubbish. We arrived at the park en the trees were green. We got so disappointed that we decided to pose in front of random trees and take pictures. Some of you may not know this about me, but I’m not good at posing for pictures. I don’t know why, but I just get awkward. I start laughing for no reason, I don’t really know what to do and everything is just weird. I really need a minute to get out of my awkward-zone before I can get a proper picture. Anyway, we ended up having dinner (like always). This time it was an Egyptian restaurant. The plan was to take a picture of our food, but when it arrived we where so hungry that we just went for it. I thought about the picture when my plate was empty…

Turning 22

So today I turned 22. My day started with pancakes at the breakfast club with my friend Alex. After breakfast I went to school. I had class till 5.15, but ain’t nobody got time to spend their birthday at school, so Nesrine and I left early and went to get donuts at Harewoods Bakery (a real friend skips class with you). I had diner with my family afterwards and ended up going to the movies with my friends ❤

Mood: 22 sounds sexy doesn’t it?

Last few days

su-food

I’ts such a sad day today. This morning I packed my bags to head home. Back to cold and rainy Amsterdam. Not only am I sad to leave Suriname in a few days, I’m also nervous about going home because I will literally land in my exams. Meaning that those 10 precious hours on the plane will be spend on studying instead of sleeping…

On the plus side of things. My family is hosting a bbq party at my late grandparents house today. So here I am, putting my food baby to rest in their hammock 🙂

Mood: I have to come back this year.

Paranam

Today my cousins and i stayed at my aunts house  at the river side in Paranam. It’s a small town outside the city. Because it was raining all day we didn’t do much. We shared stories about when we where young and terrorized my grandma’s house every chance we got. Other than that my aunt was cooking all day and we ate all day :).

Talking about rain. Just a few seconds after this picture a car drove in a puddle just 3 steps away from me, and of course he didn’t see me standing there. He drove way beyond the speed limit and got everyone soacking wet!

Mood: I might as well could’ve jumped in the river 😦

Amsterdam – Paramaribo

At the moment I’m on the Airplane on my way to Suriname. I’ll be staying there for 3 weeks and I will try to document as much as possible and post it here. I’ve been waiting for this day for months. The weather in the Netherlands was starting to annoy me and during this time of the year Suriname is so litt. There are parties everywhere, my moms birthday is coming up and a huge part of my family lives there including my sweet granny (who is the best cook btw). I could go every year if you ask me, no problem.
Downfall; I have exams when I get back to Amsterdam so I promised myself to do as much as possible while I’m there (knowing thats never going to happen). While owning up to the fact that I’m not going to do shit when I’m in Suriname, I invested some time on this 9+ hour flight in studying for my exams.
Talking about flying on airplanes, I always give the food on airplanes a fair chance because yeah.. you never know, they might’ve improved or something. I know i’m always super picky on food. So I decided to buy a McChicken burger at the airport just in case, I mean you never know.
And guess what…the airplane dish failed me, AGAIN. Seriously, my burger was ice-cold but a McChicken never tasted this good!
Okay I’m gonna be a good student now, and get back to my books.
Bye for now.
Mood: impatient… Can’t wait for this plane to land.
